This year, I have decided to create an extra section to my blog, it’s called Find A Home Friday (#findahomefriday). Every Friday I’m going to post a selection of dogs that are currently waiting for their furever homes in Irish pound and shelters.

Last year 2,896 dogs were put to sleep in Irish pounds, although that was a 7% reduction on the year before…it’s still a hell of a lot of dogs.

Please help me make a difference by sharing this post on your social using our hashtag #findahomefriday or if you are affiliated with any of these types of organisations please get in touch via my contact page.

pound dog
Carlow/Kilkenny Pound: This is Bruno. He is a 3-year-old male Boxer. He is an absolutely stunning dog, so handsome with unusual markings. Not great on the lead, needs training. Contact 059 972 6785

dogs trust

Dogs Trust: Robbie is a 1-2yr-old Terrier Cross. He loves people, can live with younger children and gets on well with other dogs too. He would love an active home where someone’s home most of the day to keep him company. Contact: 01 879 1000

HUG- Homes for Unwanted Greyhounds: Meet Sky everyone. She is just over three years old, good with kids and other dogs, though she can be jealous with her food. She’s micro chipped and registered with the ICC. Contact: 087 693 2090

dogs aid
Dogs Aid: Becky is a 1-year-old female pug that was found as stray, but was never reclaimed. She is now available for adoption. Contact 087 2944310

Offaly SPCA: Morgan is a great little dog, pretty lively but he is very affectionate and loves people. He needs an experienced owner who is used to dominant Terriers! He is getting ongoing socialisation with other dogs in foster care, but can be reactive when meeting other dogs. He is good on a lead, enjoys his daily walks and loves to play. He would best be suited as an only dog with no young children, and would need regular daily exercise. He is fully vaccinated, neutered and micro chipped. If you would like to meet him please call Offaly Spca on 086 826 2986

ISPCA: Sassy is a stunning lady looking for her own forever home. She is a large dog with plenty of energy, she will need an active family who loves the great outdoors. She would love hiking & good long walks with plenty of stimulation. The company of another big dog would be ideal, whom she can rough & tumble within a secure garden to her heart’s content. She is currently learning to walk on a lead and will be an expert prior to rehoming. She will be neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped too ready to start her new life. Ideally, experience with either breed (Dalmatian-Pointer X) would be a bonus to understand her needs and requirements but not essential, a committed adopter willing to research the breeds and has the time & energy to commit to her would be fantastic too. With a little love, exercise and plenty stimulation this lovely lass will make a wonderful companion, can you offer her the second chance she thoroughly deserves? Sassy and her sibling were removed from a property where they were kept, with their mother in completely unsuitable conditions. They were removed in time before they bred.Contact: 043 335 5035
