I’m just back from a lovely day out at Pawsitivity in the City. Hundreds of dog lovers from all over Ireland descended on the beautiful Merrion Square this weekend. The main purpose of this event (hosted by Pedigree Ireland and Whiskas) is to improve the well-being of all pets and their owners.
Every breed you can think of was out today, from beautiful and well-groomed poodles to the tiniest of Chihuahuas.
I got to meet Ireland’s most famous vet, Pete the Vet and can I just say it was an absolute pleasure. He was very sociable with everyone today offering free advice to streams of people wanting to talk to him.
The ISPCA had an area with adorable little puppies looking for new homes. My husband had to literally drag me away for here.
I met Susan Lynch at the event. Susan is the founder of Eco Mutt who have a great range of deodorisers, dry shampoos and soaps to keep your pooch smelling fresh. We will be featuring more on Eco Mutts in the coming weeks. Susan was offering free samples from their products range.
It really was an event for all the family with face painting for kids (and some adults), a balloon stall, free tea and coffee thanks to the Pupp, an ice cream van and a couple of groomers from Mutt Ugly offering free nail trimming and grooming.
There was a small agility course set up for owners to test out on their dog’s agility skills. This was probably the funniest part of today. Watching dog owners trying to get their dogs to go through a tunnels or jump over bar jumps was hilarious.
They could not have picked a better place to hold this event. The park is small but has lots of benches, a big playground for children and lots of space if you wanted to have a picnic.
Overall it was a fantastic day. Everyone was in great form and lots of dog owners swapping stories about their dogs. I really enjoyed getting out and speaking with so many dog lovers. If they decided to hold another event like this one I will definitely be going back.
